The Lumberjack Women's Basketball team dropped their Mon-Dak Conference opener 97-55 to Williston State.
The Jacks and the Tetons, who received votes in the latest NJCAA Poll were in a defensive slugfest in the early going. At the under 5-minute media timeout of the first quarter the Jacks led 7-6. The Tetons took over out of the media timeout, going on a 21-6 run to end the quarter to take a 27-13 lead. WSC pushed the lead to as many as 20 points in the second quarter, before a DCB run would cut the deficit to 13 at the break with the Tetons leading 42-29.
A 20.5% shooting percentage from the Jacks in the third quarter coupled with a 68% 4th quarter shooting percentage from the Tetons hampered the Jacks second half efforts. The Tetons would go on to win by a final score of 97-55. Jersey Vogel led two Lumberjacks in double figures with 21 points. Ava Gourd finished with 12 on 4 3-pointers. Jersey Berg led the Tetons and all scorers with 27 points.
With the loss DCB falls to 2-14 overall and 0-1 inside the Mon-Dak. Next up for the Jacks, the hit the road for another Mon-Dak contest Sunday at 1:00p.m. at Lake Region State College.
