The Lumberjack Men's Basketball team lost a high scoring affair to Lake Region State College Wednesday night 108-96.
The first half was tightly contested with seven ties and nine lead changes. Just when it appeared Lake Region was going to take control when they pushed the lead to double digits at 45-35, DCB responded with a 17-6 run to close the half and take a 52-51 lead into the locker room.
The teams traded baskets in the beginning of the second half. A 26-8 run by the Royals over a 7-minute stretch gave them the lead at 82-69. The Jacks would try to work their way back into the game in the final 6 minutes, but the deficit was too much to overcome and the Royals would take the game 108-96.
Jaden Arzola and Elijah Reynolds tied for game high honors and led 5 Lumberjacks in double figures with 23 points. MarQuez Tyree scored 11 and big men Brandon Selig, and Damjan Tapuskovic each finished with 10 points. Ashton Murno led the Royals with 23 points.
The Jacks fall to 16-10 overall and 3-5 in the Mon-Dak. The Jacks take on Region 13 and Mon-Dak foe United Tribes Technical College Monday in Bismarck. The Jacks currently sit ahead of the Thunderbirds in the conference standings. Whoever is higher in the standings at the end of the regular season hosts the Region 13 tournament. Game time Monday is set for 7:30p.m.
