The Lumberjack Men's Basketball team split their weekend series at a classic at NDSCS this past weekend defeating Valley City State JV 114 to 44. They then fell 64-54 to Central Community College.
114-44 Win
The Jacks used a balance attack to get things going offensively with four players scoring 7 or more points. DCB really got things going on the defensive side of the floor holding the Viking scoreless for the final 12 minutes of the half and to just 8 total points to take a 51-8 lead into the halftime break. It was more of the same for the Jacks in the second half as they shot 51% from the field in the second half and 49% from the field on the game while holding VCSU under 30%, enroute to a 114-44 victory. Damjan Tapuskovic led all scorers and 6 Lumberjacks in double figures with 16 points. Elijah Reynolds and MarQuez Tyree each added 13 points. Kayden McKeon and Charlie Morcombe each scored 12, Morcombe pulled in a team high 10 rebounds for a double-double as well. Jaden Arzola finished with 10 to round out the double digit scoring for DCB. Tevin Dietz led VCSU with 11.
64-54 Loss
The Jacks hopped out to a 40-24 halftime lead. The second half DCB struggled to get in a grove only scoring 14 points. Falling by a final score of 64-54. Moustapha Diomande was the lone Lumberjack in double figures with 10 points. Nino Nesbitt led the Raiders and all scorers with 22 points.
The Lumberjacks record now sits at 4-3 overall. The Jacks host Canadian Mennonite for a pair of games Friday and Saturday scheduled for 7:30p.m. and 2:00p.m.
