Jacks sign first recruit for 2022-23

DCB Head Men's Basketball Coach Karl Sorby has made the 1st signing for the Jacks 2022 recruiting class. Jacob Smith, a 6'5 forward from Sydney Australia, becomes the first signee for Lumberjacks in 2022. Smith currently plays in the Division 1 youth league in Sydney for the Inner West Bulls, and is also a development player for their NBL1 team. Smith also played with current Lumberjack Loukas Triantis in 2021 with the North Sydney Bears.

Coach Sorby on the signing of Jacob Smith: "I first heard about Jacob from Loukas back in March. Hearing Loukas vouch for Jacob made me want to get some film of him. The biggest thing that jumped out to me about Jacob was how great of a teammate he was while on the court, and on the bench as well. He is a team-first guy who is as happy for a teammate's success as if it was his own success. Jacob is also someone who is willing to do the things that are not glamourous; crashing the boards on offense, boxing out on defense, diving on the floor for loose balls. Those are things that usually don't get noticed by most fans, but they matter when it comes to winning basketball games. I know that Jacob will give it everything he has in the classroom, the weight room, on the court, and to his teammates. I look forward to getting Jacob to DCB, and getting the opportunity to work with him!"
