The Lumberjack Baseball team picked up a pair of wins on their spring break trip in Arizona for a record of 2-6. The Jacks won their opening two games of the trip downing Rainy River 10-0 and Central Lake 14-12.
In the 10-0 victory over Rainy River, Carter Ralston tallied two hits and drove in three runs. Austin Nielson had two hits and drove in a run and also swiped a base. Daxton Vela had one hit, one RBI and two stolen bases. Alonso Rodriguez doubled and stole two bases. Boyd Anderson tripled and swiped two bases. On the mound Brennan Niewinski threw a complete game and struck out 11.
The Jacks second win came in a 14-12 affair with Central Lakes. Rodriguez led the offensive attack with 3 RBIs, Ty McKenzie, Tristen Chandler, and Anderson all had two RBIs, Chandler also doubled. Andrew Renken stole three bases as did Anderson. Logan Beck and Renken each drove in one run apiece. Carlos Urrieche stole two bases and Vela stole one. Brayden Haack doubled and later scored a run. On the mound Killian Snarr got the win and registered 6 strikeouts. D'Angelo Nicholson struck out five in a relief appearance and Cooper Coble got the save and one strikeout.
Boyd Anderson leads the team in numerous offensive categories with just on series remaining before Mon-Dak play gets underway. Anderson leads the team in hits (21), runs (18), RBIs (14), stolen bases (15), and batting average (.467). Tristen Chandler leads the Jacks with 4 doubles, and Brennan Niewinski leads the Jacks with two triples. Niewinski also leads the Jacks on the mound with 23 strikeouts and a 4.08 ERA.
The Jacks wrap up non-conference play Sunday and Monday in Kansas vs Heston College.
