The Lumberjack Baseball team earned a weekend split taking two of four games from Northland Community and Technical College.
23-12 Loss
The Jacks lost a marathon game to open the series. The Jacks got offensive contributions from multiple guys but six errors in the field would be too much to overcome. Austin Neilson had two hits including a double, drove in two runs, and swiped a base. Alonso Rodriguez tallied two hits and drove in two runs. Carter Ralston led the team with three RBIs on two hits. Logan Beck and Daxton Vela each had one hit apiece both doubling. Dominic Holmstrup had three hits, two of them being doubles. Boyd Anderson had two hits and stole a base. Burke Standyk singled and stole a base in a pinch-hitting appearance. Killian Snarr registered three strikeouts in his start on the mound. Nolan Wright and Jayden Reyes each had one strike out in relief. Connor Ellis struck out four Pioneers in relief.
7-5 Win
In game two Anderson led the charge offensively with three RBIs in as many hits. Tristen Chandler and Engerben Moreno each doubled and drove in a run. Blaze Workman hit a sac fly that also drove in a run. Brayden Haack lone hit in the contest was a double. Neilson doubled and stole a base for the second time on the weekend. Rodriguez tallied two stolen bases in the contest as well. Luke Wegner earned the win, going 6.2 innings and striking out nine. Cooper Coble closed it out and got the save.
3-2 Loss
In game three of the weekend the Pioneers won in walk-off fashion. The Jacks tallied just four hits in the game Vela doubled and also had a single and stole a base. Anderson singled and drove in a run, Haack was credited with the other hit. Dawson Jensen pinch ran and had two stolen bases. Brennan Niewinski went the distance, taking the loss but striking out nine.
13-8 Win
The weekend series finished just like it started with an offensive slugfest. Tristen Chandler doubled and hit a grand slam for a four RBI day. Andrew Renken doubled and drove in two runs. Vela kept his hot streak at the plate alive with two more RBIs. Holmstrup doubled for the third time on the weekend and had an RBI. Neilson also was credited with an RBI. Aidan McCoy and Niewinski each had pinch hit triples that scored a run. Noah Medeios had one strikeout in relief. Vela got the win in a relief appearance and had five strikeouts. Anderson closed out the game, getting the save and striking out two.
The Jacks record moves to 3-8 overall. DCB kicks off their spring trip in Arizona Sunday vs Rainy River. The Jacks will play eight games next week in Tucson.
