Jacks Go 1-3 on Utah Trip

 

The Lumberjack Men's Hockey team traveled to the Beehive Showcase this past weekend in Utah and finished 1-3 on the trip. The Jacks played four ranked opponents from the latest ACHA West Region rankings. The ranking which came out this past Thursday had the Lumberjacks ranked 18th.

14-1 Loss to Weber State

In game one of the Utah road trip the Jacks took on the Weber State Wildcats who were ranked 2nd in Thursday West Region rankings had had an unblemished record of 21-0-0-0. The Wildcats proved to be to much for the Jacks taking the win 14-1 Nick Cofer scored the lone Lumberjack goal of the contest on a powerplay with Tyson Wildeboer and Christian Crutcher picking up the assist.

6-1 Win over Arizona State

In game two of the weekend DCB took on Arizona State who was ranked 9th in the most recent ACHA West Region Rankings. Carter Ralston put the Jacks on the board first a minute in a half into the game while on the powerplay, Coen Schmeichel and Crutcher had the assist. Gage Fox found the back of the net just passed the halfway point of the period to make it 2-0 Jacks, Ralston and Marcus Loorits assisted. Ralston scored his second goal of the contest early in the second period off an Aidan Diehl assist. Schmeichel used the powerplay to help the Jacks extend their lead to 4-0, Riley Opperude was credited with the assist. The Sun Devils scored their only goal shorthanded just before time expired in the second period. Diehl opened the scoring in the third period with a powerplay goal Schmeichel assisted. Ralston scored his third goal of the game to close out the scoring Opperude and Fox had the assist. Carson Lockhart had the win in net with 45 saves.

4-2 Loss to Boise State

In game three of the weekend DCB took on Boise State who was ranked 16th in Thursday's rankings. The Broncos got on the board first with a shorthanded goal. The Jacks evened the game with a minute remaining in the first period with powerplay goals by Diehl, Fox and Opperude dished the assists. Boise State retook the lead just 49 seconds into the second period. DCB didn't go away as Diehl evened the game with his second goal of the contest, Lockhart earned the assist. The Broncos would retake the lead for good while on the powerplay late in the second period and tacked on an insurance goal early in the third to take a 4-2 win.

10-0 Loss to Utah State

In the final game of the weekend the Jacks fell to Utah State who was ranked 4th in last Thursday's West Region Rankings 10-0.

DCB record moves to 4-8-0-0. The Jacks travel to the University of Minnesota Crookston for a pair of games Saturday and Sunday at 5:00p.m. and 12:00p.m.
