DCB Head Coach Mike Smith has announced that 6 Canadians and a Texan have been added to the DCB Lady Jacks Volleyball roster. The seven will join returning players Abbey Franklin, Quinn Billaney and Rebecca Helmeczi, as well as previously announced signees Lexi Gullett and Amy Stolz forming a talented group of players heading into the 2018 season.
Kiara Hamel- Kiara attended Rose Valley School in Saskatchewan. RVS is a 1A powerhouse winning provincials in both 2017 and 2016 and losing in the final in 2015. The left side hitter played for Rose Valley's 18U Club team RVVC as well. She was an honor roll student in all of her high school years. Kiara also played badminton at RVS and was involved with club gymnastics.
Ashlynn Starry- Ashlynn attended Heritage High School in Frisco, Texas. The 5'10" right side hitter played Varsity her Junior and Senior year as well as playing 8 years of club volleyball for the Texas Titans. She graduated Cum Laude and played softball her freshman and sophomore year.
Sarah Marshall- Sarah comes to DCB from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where she played for St. Joe's High School. She was a DS at St. Joe's and was an outside hitter/DS with her club team JCVC (18U) of Saskatoon. St. Joe's finished third at the 2017 5A provincial championships.
Cassandra Nagy- Cassandra attended Esterhazy High School in Saskatchewan. She played for both the Esterhazy Varsity volleyball team as well as the Esterhazy Heat 18U club team. The 5'9" middle can play right side as well. In 2017 the Heat finished 8th at the division 1 club provincial championships.
Taryn Roberts- Taryn also attended school in Esterhazy and played for both the Warrior varsity team and the Esterhazy Heat 18U club team. She was the starting outside hitter for both. She has been an honor roll student all of her high school years.
Karrien Marteniuk- Karrien comes to DCB from Lloydminster, a city on the Alberta/Saskatchewan border. Karrien is a Libero with incredible quickness. She attended Lloydminster High School and played on the varsity team since her sophomore year. She played for the Lloydminster Rustlers Volleyball Club 17U team this past season. Karrien also played varsity basketball at LHS.
Michelle Krahn- The 5'10" Middle hails from Pilot Mound, Manitoba. Krahn will be a two-sport athlete at DCB as she will be playing shortstop for the Ladyjacks softball team. Krahn played club for the Westman Volleyball Club and attended and played varsity volleyball at Pilot Mound Collegiate.

I am very excited to start working with these freshman athletes as well as Amy and Lexi who were signed earlier. Our three returning players have already been outstanding leaders and I know the entire group is ready to get going! I am looking forward to getting started on August 7th!"
