3-1 start has the Jacks celebrating

On a humid and overcast day in Willmar, MN, the DCB Lumberjack football team improved to 3-1 on the season with a 34-17 victory over Ridgewater College. The Jacks also improved to 2-0 in the West Division of the MCAC.

After holding the Warriors on their first possession, the Jacks marched down the field entirely on the ground to take a quick 6-0 lead. Despite playing in tough field position and the defense doing some shaky tackling, DCB held Ridgewater to only a field goal as the Lumberjacks led at the end of the 1st quarter 6-3.

DCB scored twice in the second quarter, capitalizing on a good running game and turnover-forcing defense to take a 21-3 lead at halftime. The lead remained at 18 at the end of the 3rd quarter at 28-10. DCB scored once more before the reserves gave up a late touchdown to make the final score 34-17.

Elijah Todd continued his strong start to 2017 with 204 yards rushing and 2 TD's, giving him over 600 yards rushing in the first 4 games of the season. As a team, DCB ran for 326 yards and passed for 147 more. Defensively, DCB had 8 sacks for the game, led by Tyler Gay with 4.

The Jacks, after playing 3 of their first 4 games of the season on the road (and winning all 3), will return to Les Christian Field on Saturday, September 30th with a game against Minnesota West Community and Technical College. Game time is 12 noon in Bottineau.
