Bottineau, ND - The DCB Football team lost their home opener to Rochester Community and Technical College on Saturday, September 9th. The final score was RCTC 24 DCB 21. Too many unforced errors cost the Jacks the game.
The Jacks had the first score of the game on a 1 yard rush by Jackson Argoe at the 8:50 minute mark in the 2nd quarter. Sandillo Wright of RCTC scored off a punt return punt late in the 2nd quarter. DCB trailed at the half, 7-6. Elijah Todd found his way into the end zone off a two yard run and two point conversion putting the Jacks up 14-7. Rochester answered with 12:32 left in the 4th tying the ball game 14-14. Mid-way through the 4th Elijah Todd got loose rushing for an 81 yard TD score. After that, it was all RCTC scoring off a safety and TD leading to the final, 24-21.
Running back, #3 Elijah Todd, could not be stopped. He finished the game with 227 yards on 27 carries and 2 TD's. DeRante Sanders rushed for 53 yards on 16 touches. Quarterback, Jackson Argoe, completed 13 passes for 196 yards. Also, he added a rushing TD. Devious Brooks and Quay Harvey both tallied 3 receptions for 47 and 114 yards. The guys on the defensive side played well led by Trent Postma with 5 solo tackles. Also, the defensive group totaled 4 sacks.
The Lumberjacks are on the road the next two weekends. First, they look to bounce back at Northland Community & Technical College on Saturday, September 16th. Kickoff is at 3:00 PM. The following weekend they travel to Ridgewater College. Next home action for the Jacks is Saturday, September 30th with a noon kickoff.
